If you only have four or five days, see our shorter Munnar and Alleppey, or Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey packages. If you want a houseboat night, it is not listed in this itinerary, so please ask us about options. Also note that the regions are far apart, so this trip includes several long drives.

Day-wise plan

Day 1 – Cochin to Munnar: Pick-up at Cochin and a scenic drive to Munnar, with a visit to the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya and waterfalls on the way. Hotel check-in.

Day 2 – Munnar sightseeing: Mattupetty Dam, Kundala Lake and Echo Point, with tea country views. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 3 – Munnar to Thekkady: Drive to Thekkady, near the Periyar Tiger Reserve, and check in. Optional activities are available on request.

Day 4 – Thekkady to Alleppey: Drive to Alleppey and check in at a backwater resort. Enjoy the lagoons and village surroundings.

Day 5 – Alleppey to Kovalam: Drive to Kovalam and check in. Evening at leisure by the coast.

You arrive in Cochin and leave from Trivandrum, so book your flights or trains accordingly.
Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple has strict entry rules and a dress code, and there are limits on what you can carry inside. Please ask us before you travel.
Seeing a tiger at Periyar is rare. Wildlife sightings depend on season, luck and time of day.
Munnar is cooler than the plains, so carry a light jacket. Ghat roads are winding, so carry medicines if you get motion sickness.
Beach swimming at Kovalam depends on sea conditions and lifeguard flags, especially in the monsoon.
Alleppey is a backwater resort stay in this package. A houseboat is not listed.

Best time to visit

September to March is generally the most comfortable season for the hills, backwaters and beaches, with December to February the coolest in Munnar. June to August is the monsoon: Kerala is very green, but heavy rain can disrupt sightseeing, and the sea at Kovalam can be rough. April and May are hot, especially on the coast.

Day 01: COCHIN – MUNNAR

After arrival at Cochin Airport/Railway Station, meet our representative and proceed to Munnar. En route, visit the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya and enjoy beautiful waterfalls and scenic nature spots. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and relax. Overnight stay at the hotel in Munnar.

Day 02: MUNNAR

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Munnar, situated at the confluence of three mountain streams—Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala—and located at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level. This scenic hill station was once the summer resort of the British government in South India. Visit Mattupetty Dam, Kundala Lake, and Echo Point. Return to the hotel and relax. Overnight stay at the hotel in Munnar.

Day 03: MUNNAR – THEKKADY

After breakfast, proceed to Thekkady, home to the famous Periyar Tiger Reserve. Spread across 777 sq. km, it is one of South India’s most popular wildlife reserves, known especially for its elephants and scenic Periyar Lake. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel in Thekkady.

Day 04: THEKKADY – ALLEPPEY

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Alleppey. Check in to the backwater resort and enjoy the serene beauty of Kerala’s famous backwaters. Relax amidst the peaceful surroundings. Overnight stay at the hotel/resort in Alleppey.

Day 05: ALLEPPEY – KOVALAM

After breakfast, proceed to Kovalam, known as the “Paradise of the South.” Visit its famous crescent-shaped beaches—Samudra Beach, Hawa Beach, and Lighthouse Beach. Enjoy the scenic coastline, blue waters, and relaxing atmosphere. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kovalam.

Day 06: KOVALAM – POOVAR – KOVALAM

After breakfast, proceed to Poovar. Visit the beautiful Poovar Beach, where the Neyyar River meets the Arabian Sea, offering stunning views of golden sands and calm waters. Later, return to Kovalam and relax. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kovalam.

Day 07: KOVALAM – TRIVANDRUM DEPARTURE

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to visit Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Later, transfer to Trivandrum Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey.
