Couples, families and first-time visitors to Kerala who have only four days and want hills, backwaters and a little city sightseeing in one simple plan. It works well as a short break or a honeymoon-style getaway without a long itinerary.
Who this trip is not for
If you want an overnight houseboat, wildlife at Thekkady, or beaches such as Kovalam, this package is not the best fit, as the itinerary does not include them. See our longer Kerala packages for those. Also note that Munnar is a long drive from Cochin, so this trip has a fair amount of road travel on Days 1 and 3.

Day-wise plan
Day 1 – Cochin to Munnar: Pick-up from Cochin airport or railway station and a scenic drive to Munnar. On the way, visit the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya and stop at waterfalls. Check in at the hotel and relax.
Day 2 – Munnar sightseeing: Explore Munnar, including Mattupetty Dam, Kundala Lake and Echo Point. Return to the hotel for the night.
Day 3 – Munnar to Alleppey: Drive to Alleppey and check in at a backwater resort. Spend the rest of the day by the waterways.
Day 4 – Kochi sightseeing and departure: After breakfast and check-out, drive to Kochi for Marine Drive and Fort Kochi, then a drop at the airport or railway station.

- Heavy rain can affect sightseeing and road travel in the hills, so check the forecast before you travel.

Best time to visit Munnar and Alleppey
September to March is generally the most comfortable season, with December to February the coolest in Munnar. June to August is the monsoon: Kerala is very green, but heavy rain can disrupt plans. April and May are warmer, especially in Alleppey.
