Couples and families with about five days who want the classic Kerala combination of hills, backwaters and sea, without a long list of stops. If you prefer a plan that spends more time in each place, this one suits you better than the longer circuits.

Who this trip is not for

If you want wildlife at Thekkady, the Poovar excursion, or Varkala's cliff-top beach, see our other Kerala packages that include them. A houseboat night is not part of this plan, so please ask us if you want one. Munnar, Alleppey and Kovalam are far apart, so there are still long drives on Days 1, 3 and 4.

Day-wise plan

Day 1 – Arrival and drive to Munnar: Pick-up and a scenic drive to Munnar, with stops along the way. Hotel check-in.

Day 2 – Munnar sightseeing: A full day among the tea hills and viewpoints around Munnar. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 3 – Munnar to Alleppey: Drive to Alleppey and check in at a backwater resort. Relax by the lagoons and village surroundings.

Day 4 – Alleppey to Kovalam: Drive to Kovalam and check in. Evening at leisure by the coast.

Day 5 – Kovalam and departure: Morning at the beach, then a drop for your onward journey.

What to know before you book

Please confirm your arrival and departure points with us before booking flights or trains, as the route runs from central Kerala to the south.
Day 4 is mostly a travel day, as Alleppey and Kovalam are far apart.
Munnar is cooler than the plains, so carry a light jacket. Ghat roads are winding, so carry medicines if you get motion sickness.
Swimming at Kovalam depends on sea conditions and lifeguard flags, especially in the monsoon.
Alleppey is a backwater resort stay in this package. A houseboat is not listed.

Best time to visit

September to March is generally the most comfortable season for the hills, backwaters and beach, with December to February the coolest in Munnar. June to August is the monsoon: Kerala is very green, but heavy rain can disrupt sightseeing and the sea at Kovalam can be rough. April and May are hot, especially on the coast.

Is 5 days enough for Munnar, Alleppey and Kovalam?
Yes, if you want only these three places. Because the drives are long, there is little room to add Thekkady or other stops.

How much is this 4 nights 5 days Kerala tour?
It starts from ₹16,000. Please confirm whether the price is per person or per couple, and whether GST applies, when you enquire.

How is this different from your Kerala packages with Varkala or Poovar?
This one stays with Munnar, Alleppey and Kovalam only. Our other packages add Varkala's cliffs or the Poovar excursion, and some add Thekkady.

Is a houseboat included?
No. The itinerary lists a backwater resort stay in Alleppey. Ask us if you want a houseboat option.

Where does the tour start and end?

Is this suitable for senior citizens?
The pace is steady, but the drives are long. Please talk to us about rest stops and hotel locations before booking.

Day 01: COCHIN – MUNNAR

After arrival at Cochin Airport/Railway Station, meet our representative and proceed to Munnar. En route, visit the birthplace of Adi Shankara and enjoy scenic waterfalls and beautiful natural views. On arrival, check in to the hotel and relax. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 02: MUNNAR

After breakfast, proceed for Munnar sightseeing. Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams—Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala—and is located at 1600 meters above sea level. It was once the summer resort of the British Government in South India. Visit Mattupetty Dam, Kundala Lake, and Echo Point. Return to the hotel and relax. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 03: MUNNAR – ALLEPPEY

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Alleppey. Enjoy the serene backwaters of Kerala and relax at the resort. Overnight stay at Alleppey.

Day 04: ALLEPPEY – KOVALAM

After breakfast, proceed to Kovalam, known as the “Paradise of the South.” Visit the famous crescent-shaped beaches—Samudra Beach, Hawa Beach, and Lighthouse Beach. Enjoy the calm blue waters and scenic surroundings. Overnight stay at Kovalam.

Day 05: KOVALAM – TRIVANDRUM DEPARTURE

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to visit Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Later, transfer to Trivandrum Airport/Railway Station for departure.
