Friends, couples and families who want a cool-weather break with a bit of adventure. Chikmagalur is the more rugged of the two hill stations, so this plan suits travellers who enjoy viewpoints, short climbs and forest trails alongside waterfalls and a monastery visit.

Who this trip is not for

If you want a very slow trip with minimal walking, or a Mysore palace and city heritage plan, see our Coorg and Mysore packages instead. This trip involves long drives and some climbing at Mullayanagiri, so it is not ideal for travellers with knee or mobility problems. There are no beaches on this route.

Day-wise plan

Day 1 – Arrival in Coorg: Arrive in Coorg, the "Scotland of India", check in and visit Abbey Falls. Evening at leisure.

Day 2 – Coorg sightseeing: Visit the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe, Iruppu Falls and a spice plantation. Overnight in Coorg.

Day 3 – Coorg to Chikmagalur: Drive to Chikmagalur and check in at an estate homestay. Spend the evening among the coffee plantations.

Day 4 – Mullayanagiri, Baba Budangiri and departure: Visit Mullayanagiri and the Baba Budangiri range, then your departure.

Mullayanagiri involves a climb of several hundred steps to the top. Wear sturdy shoes, carry water, and avoid it in heavy rain or fog if you are not comfortable.
Chikmagalur is cooler and windier than the plains, especially early morning and evening, so carry a jacket.
Waterfalls such as Abbey and Iruppu look best in and after the monsoon, and may carry much less water in summer.
Golden Temple at Bylakuppe is a monastery, so dress modestly and keep your voice low inside.
Roads are winding in the Ghats, so carry medicines if you get motion sickness.

Best time to visit Coorg and Chikmagalur

October to March is the most comfortable season, with cooler weather and clearer views. June to September is the monsoon: the hills are very green and the waterfalls are at their fullest, but heavy rain, fog and leeches can make treks and roads harder. April and May are warm, especially at lower elevations.

Day 01: ARRIVAL MYSORE - COORG

• Upon Arrival Mysore Airport, our representative will transfer to Coorg and subsequently your hotel. After a warm check-in, the hotel and proceeding on for some sightseeing at the Rajas tomb Hilltop site from the 1800s with 3 royal tombs with ornately entrances plus gardens & city views. You will visit natural, spiritual, and historic attractions like Omkareshwara Temple, Abbey waterfalls, Brahmagiri Hill and Talacauvery. You will also get to enjoy a coffee plantation tour and attend a coffee tasting session. Post this, you will be transferred back to your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay. Day 02: COORG

• After one last delicious breakfast in Coorg, checkout from your hotel and proceed to visit Nisargadhama Island formed by the river Kaveri. It's a tranquil spot surrounded by nature, with activities like boating, elephant rides, and a bamboo forest to explore. Coffeeland Estate: Another coffee plantation, Coffeeland Estate offers scenic views, along with more detailed insights into the coffee-growing process Brahmagiri Hill Head to Brahmagiri Hill for a refreshing trek or simply to enjoy the scenic views of the Western Ghats. • After a delicious breakfast in Coorg, checkout from your hotel and proceed to Chikmagalur (Approx 170 km takes 05 hrs), the land of coffee plantations, visit a Coffee Plantation and Relax at Yagachi Dam, a peaceful spot ideal for photography. Day 04: MYSORE DEPATURE
