Maldives Tour Packages from Hyderabad: A Complete Travel Guide
Planning a Maldives Holiday from Hyderabad?
A Maldives holiday is easy to picture and surprisingly easy to plan badly. The islands are small, transfers are timed around flights and daylight, and two trips that look alike on a booking page can differ by a day of travel and a large share of the budget. This guide explains how a Maldives trip actually works for someone starting from Hyderabad, so you can compare Maldives tour packages knowing what you are comparing.
People from Hyderabad choose the Maldives for a few practical reasons. It is a short international trip, the tourist visa is granted on arrival without a fee, and the range of stays is wide, from a guesthouse in a village to a resort with its own island. The water is shallow and clear, and a reef is often a few metres from where you stay.
Three things are worth understanding before you plan.
Where you stay decides the kind of trip. Resorts and local islands are different places with different rules, costs and transfers. The next sections explain both.
Transfers shape your first and last day. Once you land at Velana International Airport, you still need a boat, seaplane or domestic flight to reach your island, and these run to schedules.
Land-only packages start after you arrive. Leisure Trips offers land-only holiday arrangements. That means the stay, island transfers and the services agreed in your booking begin when you arrive in the Maldives. International flights are not included in Leisure Trips packages. You book your flight yourself, and you share your arrival details so the rest of the trip can be planned around it. Specific inclusions are confirmed on each package page. This guide describes what is generally possible, not what any one package includes.
The Maldives is 30 minutes behind Indian Standard Time, which is worth remembering when you read arrival times.
What Makes the Maldives Worth Exploring?
The Maldives is a chain of coral atolls in the Indian Ocean south-west of India. Each atoll is a ring of small islands around a lagoon. The capital, Malé, is a dense city on a small island, and the international airport sits on a neighbouring island, Hulhulé.
The geography explains the two kinds of holiday. Some islands are inhabited by Maldivians and are called local islands. Others hold a single resort. You can visit both, but the experience, dress rules and prices differ.
Beaches and lagoons. Lagoons inside the atolls are generally shallow and calm, which suits swimming and snorkelling. Many trips include a sandbank, a strip of sand that sits just above water in the lagoon.
Marine life. Reefs hold turtles, rays and reef fish. Whale sharks can be seen around South Ari Atoll throughout the year, though sightings are never guaranteed. Manta rays gather at Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll in the wetter months, generally May to November.
Local culture. The Maldives is an Islamic country, and local islands are communities, not resorts. Dress is modest in villages, alcohol is not served on local islands, and Friday is the main day of prayer.
Relaxation and adventure. A holiday can be a villa and a house reef, or a diving-and-surfing week. Honeymooners tend to choose private resorts for privacy, while families often value calm lagoons and simple transfers.
Types of Maldives Holidays: Which One Is Right for You?
Five styles cover most trips. They overlap, and many travellers combine two.
Private Island Resort Holidays
One resort occupies the whole island. Everything is on site: villa, restaurants, spa, water sports and often a house reef. Access is usually by speedboat or seaplane.
Advantages: privacy, a range of facilities, and swimwear and alcohol rules that are relaxed inside the resort. Limitations: typically the highest cost, limited contact with local life, and meals and drinks that can add up outside a meal plan. Suits: couples, honeymooners and anyone who wants to switch off.
Local Island Holidays
You stay in a guesthouse or small hotel on an island where Maldivians live. Excursions such as snorkelling, sandbank picnics and dolphin trips are booked by the day.
Advantages: a lower cost of stay and a chance to see everyday island life. Limitations: modest dress away from the designated bikini beach, no alcohol on the island, and fewer facilities than a resort. Suits: first-timers, budget travellers, families comfortable with local rules, and anyone curious about culture.
Honeymoon and Romantic Holidays
Most honeymoon trips are built on a resort stay with a water villa or beach villa, private dining and sunset experiences. Some couples split the trip between a local island and a resort.
Ask exactly what "honeymoon" includes, because extras such as dinners, decorations and spa credits vary between properties.
Family Holidays
Families usually want calm lagoons, short transfers and rooms that fit everyone. Both resorts and guesthouses work, but check age rules on boats and seaplanes, life jacket availability and the walking distance to a safe swimming area.
Transfers matter more with children. A speedboat ride of under an hour is easier than a long transfer after a flight.
Adventure and Water Sports Holidays
Diving, snorkelling safaris, surfing and kayaking are the focus. Local islands and liveaboard boats are popular for diving. Surf season generally peaks from June to September, with breaks in atolls such as North Malé.
Some sites need certified divers, and conditions change with the monsoon. Choose your base for the activity first, not the other way round.
Best Islands to Visit in the Maldives
These islands are examples of what travellers visit, chosen for their different transfer patterns and styles. Leisure Trips confirms arrangements for specific islands only on its package pages, so check there for what is offered.
Maafushi Island
Maafushi, in South Malé Atoll, is the best-known local island for first-time travellers on a smaller budget. It is about 27 km from the airport and has many guesthouses, a designated bikini beach and a regular choice of snorkel, sandbank and dolphin trips.
Getting there: shared speedboats from the airport jetty typically take around 30 to 45 minutes. The public ferry from Malé takes roughly 90 minutes and, according to recent guides, does not run on Fridays, so a Friday arrival often means a speedboat.
Accommodation: guesthouses and small hotels. On this narrow island, the distance to the bikini beach matters, so ask where a property sits.
Suits: first-timers who want a village setting and are comfortable with modest dress and no alcohol on the island.
Malé
Malé is the capital: compact, busy and walkable. Most visitors pass through it, but a half-day offers context that resorts do not. The Grand Friday Mosque has a golden dome and welcomes visitors outside prayer times, with modest dress. Hukuru Miskiy is an old coral-stone mosque, and the National Museum in Sultan Park covers Maldivian history. The museum has been reported closed on Fridays and Saturdays, so check hours before you go.
Getting there: short, frequent ferries run between the airport island and Malé.
Accommodation: city hotels that are practical rather than scenic.
Suits: culture-minded travellers and anyone with a layover day.
Hulhumélé
Hulhumélé is a reclaimed island close to the airport, with newer hotels, cafes and an urban beach. It is mainly a practical base. It suits travellers who land late and cannot reach their island the same day, or who want a quiet last night before an early flight.
Getting there: a short road or ferry hop from the airport.
Accommodation: city-style hotels and guesthouses, not resorts.
Dhigurah Island
Dhigurah is a long, narrow local island in South Ari Atoll, about 96 km from Malé, inside the South Ari Marine Protected Area. It is known for whale shark excursions, which run throughout the year, with sightings likely over a stay but not guaranteed on any single trip. It also has a long sandbank and good snorkelling.
Getting there: it is farther than islands near Malé. Options are a shared speedboat of roughly 1.5 to 2.5 hours, a domestic flight of about 20 minutes to Maamigili followed by a short boat ride, or a seaplane followed by a short boat ride. Costs differ sharply between these options, so confirm which is included.
Accommodation: guesthouses, with a range of budgets.
Suits: snorkellers and divers who are willing to spend a travel half-day to be near whale sharks.
Thulusdhoo Island
Thulusdhoo, in North Malé Atoll, is one of the easiest local islands to reach. It is about 28 km from Malé, and guides describe speedboat transfers of roughly 25 to 30 minutes from the airport. The public ferry takes around 85 minutes and does not run on Fridays.
It has guesthouses, surf camps and a designated bikini beach, and it is known for surfing, which peaks from June to September.
Suits: travellers who want a short transfer, surfers, and short breaks.
Other Islands Worth Exploring
- Ukulhas (Alif Alif Atoll) has many guesthouses and a speedboat journey of about 90 minutes from Malé.
- Thoddoo is known as a farming island, with a speedboat journey of roughly 75 to 90 minutes.
- Dhangethi in South Ari is another base for whale shark trips.
- Baa Atoll is known for Hanifaru Bay, where mantas gather in the wetter months. Access to resorts there is typically by seaplane.
- Addu City in the far south feels quieter and is usually reached by domestic flight.
For each, check the transfer type, the schedule and whether the transfer is included before you book.
Best Things to Do in the Maldives
Most activities are excursions from a resort or guesthouse, priced separately unless a package says otherwise. Ask what is included before you assume.
Snorkelling and Marine Life Experiences
Snorkelling is the most accessible activity. At many resorts a house reef can be reached from the beach or a jetty. On local islands, operators run boat trips to reef sites, and equipment is often rented separately.
Snorkelling works year-round, though visibility is generally best in the dry months. Currents can be strong at some sites, so a life jacket is sensible for weaker swimmers. Do not touch or stand on coral, and treat any specific animal sighting as a possibility, not a promise.
Scuba Diving
Beginners can usually try a supervised introductory dive where an operator offers it, and certified divers can book dive-site trips. Some sites have strong currents and suit experienced divers.
If you dive, leave a surface interval before flying home. Divers are commonly advised to wait roughly 18 to 24 hours, but follow your dive operator's guidance. Hanifaru Bay is a snorkel-only site for mantas, so divers should ask where manta dives are possible.
Dolphin Watching
Dolphin trips are usually boat excursions around sunrise or sunset. Dolphins are wild animals, so sightings depend on the day and the sea. These trips are easy for families and are normally priced per person as an optional excursion.
Sandbank Excursions
A sandbank is a strip of sand that sits just above the water in a lagoon. Operators take guests by boat for swimming and often a picnic or lunch. There is little or no shade, so sun protection matters, and the size of the sandbank changes with the tide. Calm weather is best.
Island Hopping
Day trips between neighbouring local islands let you see more than one village and beach. Public ferries run to timetables and some do not run on Fridays, so a private or shared speedboat may be needed on those days. Dress modestly when you visit inhabited islands.
Kayaking and Water Sports
Kayaks and paddleboards are common. Jet skis, parasailing and similar activities are offered at some resorts and busier local islands. They are usually charged per use, run subject to sea conditions, and come with a safety briefing.
Exploring Local Islands
Walking through a village, visiting small cafes and seeing everyday life is a different experience from a resort stay. Ask before photographing people, dress modestly, and expect limited daytime dining during Ramadan.
Relaxing on Tropical Beaches
Resort beaches allow swimwear. On local islands, swimwear is generally limited to a designated bikini beach. The sun is strong near the equator, so use shade and reef-safe sunscreen, and swim only where conditions are safe.
Maldives Tour Itinerary: How Many Days Are Enough?
Arrival and departure days take more of your time than most people expect. Three nights gives you two full days, four to five nights suits most first trips, and six nights or more allows a split stay or a farther atoll.
These are sample plans, not Leisure Trips package itineraries. They assume you land in the morning or early afternoon and use a speedboat. If you land late, the first day changes. Activities marked optional are usually extra.
Maldives 3 Nights / 4 Days Itinerary
A short break on a local island near Malé.
| Day | Plan |
| 1 |
Land at Velana airport, clear immigration with your IMUGA confirmation, and take a speedboat of roughly 30 to 45 minutes to a nearby local island such as Maafushi or Thulusdhoo. Check in (hotel check-in is often around 2 PM), then walk the island and see the sunset
|
| 2 |
Morning snorkelling trip or sandbank visit (optional). Free afternoon on the bikini beach
|
| 3 |
Dolphin cruise or water sports (optional), village walk, relaxed evening
|
| 4 |
Check out and take the speedboat back with a generous buffer. Many travellers aim to reach the airport around three hours before an international departure
|
If your arrival or departure day is a Friday, check boat options, because public ferries may not run.
Maldives 4 Nights / 5 Days Itinerary
A resort-style stay within reach of Malé.
|
Day |
Plan |
|---|---|
|
1 |
Arrive, transfer by speedboat (or seaplane if your flight lands early enough), settle in and take a first swim |
|
2 |
House reef snorkelling and beach time |
|
3 |
Optional excursion such as a dolphin cruise or sandbank trip, or a spa session |
|
4 |
Free day: water sports, reading, sunset |
|
5 |
Check out and transfer to the airport with a buffer before departure |
Seaplane-served resorts generally need an arrival before about 3:30 PM. A later flight often means a night in Malé or Hulhumélé first.
Maldives 5 Nights / 6 Days Itinerary
A split stay: two nights on a local island, then three at a resort.
| Day | Plan |
| 1 |
Arrive and transfer to a local island near Malé
|
| 2 |
Snorkelling excursion (optional) and a village walk
|
| 3 |
Check out around late morning and transfer to the resort. Resort check-in is often in the afternoon, so allow for a gap
|
| 4 |
House reef and leisure time
|
| 5 |
Optional excursion or spa, sunset
|
| 6 |
Check out and transfer to the airport
|
If whale sharks are the priority, base most of the trip at a South Ari island such as Dhigurah instead. The transfer takes half a day each way, so a trip of five nights or more works better.
Best Time to Visit the Maldives
The Maldives has two monsoon seasons, and each has trade-offs. No month is free of weather risk, and none is simply the best.
Maldives from December to April
This is the dry northeast monsoon. Seas are generally calmer, skies clearer and underwater visibility better, with sources commonly citing 20 to 30 metres. It is also the busiest and most expensive period, and one 2026 season guide notes that prices can jump sharply from mid-December to about 10 January. April is often the hottest and most humid month before the rains.
Maldives from May to November
This is the wetter southwest monsoon, with more rain, wind and humidity. Rain often falls in passing showers, but rough seas can affect transfers and some excursions. Rates are usually lower and the islands quieter. Surf conditions peak around June to September, and manta rays gather at Hanifaru Bay, generally May to November.
Best Time for Snorkelling and Diving
The dry months offer clearer water. The wetter months bring plankton, which draws manta rays and whale sharks, and Hanifaru Bay is best known for mantas from roughly June to October. Whale sharks can be seen around South Ari Atoll year-round. Marine life shifts from one side of an atoll to the other with the monsoon, so choose your dates around what you most want to see.
When Should Hyderabad Travellers Plan Their Holiday?
Indian school holidays, Diwali and the year-end drive demand, so book flights and stays early for those windows. Shoulder months such as late April, May and November can offer a balance of weather and price, with some rain risk.
Winter 2026/27 may be easier for Hyderabad travellers. IndiGo has scheduled non-stop Hyderabad to Malé flights from 2 December 2026, subject to change, which would shorten the journey compared with connecting itineraries. Whichever dates you choose, check the forecast a week before you travel and keep some flexibility.
How to Reach the Maldives from Hyderabad?
All international flights land at Velana International Airport (MLE) on Hulhulé island, next to Malé. From there you take a boat, seaplane or domestic flight to your island.
This section explains the travel process only. Leisure Trips packages do not include flights, and you arrange your own.
Flights from Hyderabad
The flight position has been changing. IndiGo served Hyderabad to Malé non-stop until January 2025, and AeroRoutes reported in August 2026 that it has scheduled the route to return from 2 December 2026 to 31 January 2027, four times weekly. The published times are a 15:15 departure from Hyderabad and a 17:25 arrival in Malé, about 2 hours 40 minutes later, because Malé is 30 minutes behind India. These are schedule listings and can change, so check before you book.
When a non-stop flight is not running, you connect through another Indian city or a regional hub. One-stop itineraries listed on fare sites in early 2026 ranged from roughly 14 to over 20 hours in total. Compare the whole journey time, not only the fare.
Planning Your Airfare Independently
Decide your stay and transfer first, then book a flight that lands at a workable time. Fares vary by date, season and routing, and a late landing can cost you a night in Malé if you want a seaplane or a farther island. Share your flight numbers with us once booked, so the land arrangements can be matched to your arrival.
Airport Arrival and Transfers
On arrival you clear immigration with your IMUGA confirmation, collect your bags, and meet your transfer. Your transfer depends on your island.
- Speedboat: the common choice for islands within roughly an hour or two of the airport. Shared boats run on schedules, and private boats can be arranged.
- Seaplane: scenic and used for farther resorts. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, roughly 06:00 to 16:00, and resorts commonly advise an arrival before about 15:30. Luggage is limited to 20 kg checked and 5 kg hand baggage, and you may wait one to two hours in the seaplane lounge.
- Domestic flight and boat: used for farther atolls such as South Ari. A short domestic flight is followed by a short boat ride.
- Public ferry: the cheapest option for local islands, run to timetables, usually from Malé rather than the airport.
Matching Your Flight to Your Transfer
| When you land |
What is generally possible
|
| Morning to about 1 PM |
Most options, including speedboats, ferries and seaplane or domestic connections
|
| About 1 PM to 3:30 PM |
Seaplane or domestic connections only if scheduled; speedboats to nearby islands
|
| After about 3:30 PM |
Seaplane is usually not possible the same day. Speedboats to nearby islands depend on the operator and sea conditions, or you stay a night in Malé or Hulhumélé
|
By this measure, a 17:25 arrival would generally rule out a same-day seaplane, so plan a nearby island or a first night near the airport.
The timing problems that catch travellers are a late landing that misses the last seaplane, a tight connection after a delayed flight, luggage over the seaplane limit, and a departure day with no buffer. Confirm the transfer schedule against your flights before you finalise anything.
Maldives Accommodation Guide: Resorts, Hotels and Guesthouses
Accommodation is the biggest single decision in a Maldives trip. It sets your budget, your transfer, your dress code and how much of the holiday is spent on the island you sleep on.
Beach Villas
A beach villa sits on the sand, usually with a private terrace and a few steps to the water. They often cost less than water villas and are easier for small children and older guests. Ask which side of the island the villa faces, how much shade it gets, and how close it is to the jetty and restaurants.
Water Villas
A water villa stands on stilts over the lagoon, with a deck and steps into the water. They offer the most privacy and the iconic view, and they are a common honeymoon choice. Long jetty walks are normal, and decks and steps need supervision with young children. Some are over reef and some over sand, which changes how easy it is to swim from the villa.
Standard Hotel Rooms
Hotels in Malé and Hulhumélé are city properties, practical for arrival and departure nights. At resorts, the standard room is usually the entry category, below beach and water villas. Compare the room type, not just the property name.
Local Island Guesthouses
Guesthouses are small hotels in villages. Breakfast is usually included and other meals vary. Alcohol is not served on local islands. Location relative to the bikini beach matters. Island transfers may be priced separately, so confirm how you will arrive and what it costs.
How to Choose the Right Accommodation?
Start with how you want to spend your days. If you want privacy and a reef at your door, a resort villa fits. If you want local life and a lower cost, a guesthouse fits. Then check the practical details:
- Transfer type and whether it is included
- Meal plan
- Room type, occupancy and child policy
- Taxes and service charges, and whether they are in the quoted price
- Cancellation terms and any peak-season supplements
Meal plans are worth understanding because food at resorts is a major cost.

Maldives Visa and Travel Documents for Indian Travellers
Indian passport holders do not apply for a visa in advance. A tourist visa is granted on arrival to all nationalities, and the one step before you fly is the free online IMUGA Traveller Declaration. These are two different things: the visa is issued by immigration when you land, and IMUGA is a declaration you submit beforehand.
|
Item |
What to know |
|---|---|
|
Tourist visa on arrival |
Granted on arrival, free, with no pre-approval. Typically 30 days. Entry is decided by the immigration officer, and no operator can guarantee it |
|
Passport |
Machine-readable. Maldives Immigration's published minimum is one month of validity, but airlines and onward destinations can be stricter, and many travellers keep six months |
|
IMUGA Traveller Declaration |
Free. Submit within 96 hours before arrival, one per traveller, including children. A separate declaration is required within 96 hours before departure. Save the QR code |
|
Return or onward ticket |
Required. Airlines and immigration may ask for it |
|
Accommodation confirmation |
A confirmed booking at a registered property |
|
Sufficient funds |
Be ready to show proof if asked |
|
Children |
Each child needs their own passport and their own IMUGA declaration |
|
Customs |
Alcohol and pork products cannot be brought in, and exporting sand, shells or coral is prohibited. Check the current list before packing |
Use only the official portal at imuga.immigration.gov.mv. Third-party sites may charge fees for a free form. The Maldives Mission pages on the tourist visa and the Maldives Immigration tourist visa page set out the current rules. Rules can change, so recheck shortly before you travel.
Maldives Travel Budget: What Should You Consider?
The Maldives has no single price. The same week can cost very different amounts depending on these choices.
| Factor |
Why it changes the cost
|
| Accommodation category |
Guesthouse, hotel, resort room, beach villa and water villa sit at different levels
|
| Island selection |
Islands far from Malé cost more to reach
|
| Transfers |
Public ferries are generally cheapest, followed by shared speedboats, then domestic flights and seaplanes
|
| Meal plans |
Meals at resorts can be a large part of the spend
|
| Activities and excursions |
Snorkel trips, diving, dolphin cruises and water sports are often extra
|
| Taxes and service charges |
The green tax is USD 12 per person per night at resorts, hotels and safari vessels and USD 6 at guesthouses, with children under two exempt. Other charges may be quoted separately
|
| Season |
Peak months cost more, and the end of December to early January is the highest
|
| Personal expenses |
Drinks at resorts, spa, shopping and tips
|
| International airfare |
Booked separately, and it varies by date and routing
|
| Excess baggage |
Seaplanes charge for luggage above the limit
|
A useful way to estimate: land arrangements + international airfare + any taxes quoted separately + activities and personal spending + a buffer. Ask for an itemised list, so you can see which items sit inside the quoted price. We do not quote numbers here because fares, rates and transfer costs change.
What Is Included in a Maldives Land-Only Holiday Package?
A land-only package covers what happens after you arrive in the Maldives. It does not cover your flight. The table lists what land arrangements can include in general. Treat it as a checklist of questions, not a list of what any package contains.
| Possible component | What it may cover |
What to confirm
|
| Accommodation | Resort, hotel or guesthouse for the nights booked |
Room type, occupancy, location
|
| Meals | Breakfast, half board, full board or all-inclusive |
Which meals and drinks
|
| Airport transfer | Pick-up and drop at Velana airport |
Boat type, timing, shared or private
|
| Island transfer | Speedboat, seaplane, domestic flight or ferry to your island |
Whether it is in the price
|
| Excursions | Snorkelling, dolphin cruise, sandbank trip |
Which ones, and whether optional
|
| Itinerary planning and coordination | Matching stay and transfers to your arrival |
Your flight details
|
| Travel assistance | Guidance before and during the trip | Contact details |
The actual itinerary and inclusions depend on the accommodation you select and your approved booking. Only what is written on the package page or in your confirmed booking counts as included. Flights, your IMUGA declaration and your travel insurance are separate.
Important Things to Know Before Booking Maldives Tour Packages
Local island versus resort. The two are different places with different rules. Confirm which you are booking, and what that means for dress, alcohol and facilities.
Transfer timing. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, ferries run to timetables and some skip Fridays, and a late flight can change your first day. Match your flight to your transfer before booking.
Meal plan. Check what is covered. Meals at resorts can add up, and local islands may have fewer options.
Local customs and dress code. Dress modestly in villages and Malé, use designated beaches for swimwear, and ask before photographing people.
Alcohol rules. Generally served at resorts and some boats, not on local islands. Do not bring alcohol into the country.
Weather-related changes. Rough seas can delay boats and cancel excursions, especially in the wetter months. Keep a buffer on arrival and departure days.
Travel insurance. Recommended, particularly for boat and seaplane transfers and water activities. Check cover for delays and cancellations.
Cancellation policies. Read them before paying, especially for peak dates and non-refundable resort bookings.
Booking confirmations. Get the stay, transfer and any excursions confirmed in writing, with a contact number for the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions About Maldives Tour Packages
How many days are enough for a Maldives trip?
Four to five nights suits most first visits. Three nights gives two full days, because arrival and departure take time. A week allows a split stay between a local island and a resort, or a farther atoll such as South Ari.
Do Indians need a visa for the Maldives?
Not in advance. A tourist visa is granted on arrival, free of charge. You must complete the free IMUGA Traveller Declaration within 96 hours before arrival, and again before departure. Immigration decides entry, so carry your documents and recheck the rules before you travel.
What is the best time to visit the Maldives?
December to April is the driest and calmest, and also the busiest and priciest. May to November is wetter and windier, with lower rates and the best season for manta rays at Hanifaru Bay. The best time depends on whether you want sunshine, a lower budget or particular marine life.
Which island is best for first-time visitors?
It depends on your style. Maafushi and Thulusdhoo are near Malé and suit first-timers on a smaller budget. A resort near Malé suits those who want privacy. Dhigurah is farther but suits whale shark enthusiasts. Match the island to your budget, interests and arrival time.
Is Maafushi better than staying in a private resort?
Neither is better in general. Maafushi is a local island with guesthouses, village life and no alcohol, and it costs less. A private resort offers privacy and facilities at a higher cost. Choose based on budget, dress and alcohol preferences, and how much you want local life.
What is the difference between a beach villa and a water villa?
A beach villa sits on the sand, and a water villa stands over the lagoon. Water villas offer more privacy and the classic view, but involve jetty walks and steps into the water. Beach villas are often more affordable and easier for children and older guests.
Are international flights included in Leisure Trips Maldives packages?
No. Our packages are land-only and start when you arrive in the Maldives. You book your own international flight. Share your flight details with us so we can plan the stay and transfers around your arrival time.
How do airport transfers work in the Maldives?
You land at Velana airport on Hulhulé, then take a speedboat, seaplane, domestic flight or ferry to your island. Seaplanes fly in daylight only and have strict luggage limits. Boats and ferries run to schedules, so your flight time decides which options are possible.
What documents should Indian travellers carry?
A machine-readable passport (check validity rules, and consider six months), your IMUGA confirmation with QR code, a return or onward ticket, your accommodation confirmation and proof of funds. Children each need their own passport and IMUGA declaration.
Is the Maldives suitable for a family holiday?
Yes, with planning. Choose calm lagoons, short transfers and a property that welcomes children. Check age rules on boats and seaplanes, life jacket availability and the walk to safe swimming areas. A guesthouse or resort can both work.
What activities can travellers enjoy in the Maldives?
Snorkelling, diving, dolphin cruises, sandbank trips, island hopping, kayaking and water sports, plus spa time and village walks. Many are optional excursions that cost extra, and sea conditions can change plans, so ask what is included.
Is a local island holiday different from a resort holiday?
Yes. Local islands are villages with guesthouses, modest dress outside the bikini beach, no alcohol and a lower cost. Resorts are private islands with villas, facilities and relaxed rules inside the resort, at a higher cost. The transfers also differ.
What should travellers pack for the Maldives?
Light cotton clothes, swimwear, a cover-up for local islands, reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, sandals, any personal medicines, a power adaptor and a light rain layer. Use soft bags to stay within seaplane limits of 20 kg checked and 5 kg hand baggage.
Can travellers customise their Maldives itinerary?
Yes. Share your dates, stay type, budget and preferences, and we will suggest a plan and confirm what is included. Changes to nights, island or activities may affect transfers, so check the schedule.
How should travellers choose their Maldives accommodation?
Decide first between a resort and a local island. Then compare transfer type, meal plan, room type, taxes, cancellation terms and location. Ask for an itemised list so you can compare options like for like.
Suresh
We, colleagues had a trip in Kerala. We shared our plan details with Leisure trips. They planned our tour very perfectly. They got hardly 3 days to plan. But in that very short time, they responded to us, planned so good. Stay, site seeing, food everything was good. We really had a great time. We wish to choose Leisure trips again.
